Our first Peer Learning event will take place on Wednesday February 21, 2018 from 10am - 12pm at CT Food Bank Community Room, 2 Research Pkwy Wallingford, CT.

The topic of our first event in the Savings Series is “Why Savings?”


Savings in America and in Low Income Communities – Dave Hinchey, Credit Union League of Connecticut

 An environmental scan of savings data in the US and the societal costs of families with too little savings.

The Cost of Being Poor – TBD , Connecticut Association for Human Services

How a lack of savings and poor financial circumstances creates a vicious cycle of higher costs and inferior products and services

What Can We Bring to the Table (Group Discussion)– Michelle McCabe, Director of The Center for Food Equity and Economic Development.

What can a diverse group of community organizations, financial institutions, governmental agencies and advocates bring individually and collectively to the challenge of creating greater household savings?
